Stamford Central Organization of Parents and Educators (S.C.O.P.E)

The purpose of S.C.O.P.E. is to involve the community and the parents actively in their child's educational program. S.C.O.P.E. also provides opportunities to discuss common concerns about raising children and distributes information about school programs as well as key issues facing parents and children.

S.C.O.P.E. sponsors various elementary sports programs, roller skating outings, swimming outings, and picture day at S.C.S. Meetings are held once a month.

Pre-K and Kindergarten Registration Information
PRE-KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

Parents of children living in the Stamford Central School District who will be 5 years old by December 1st are invited to register their children to begin Kindergarten in September. Call Stamford Central School at (607) 652-7301 (ext. 0) with the child’s name, address and date of birth as soon as possible. Kindergarten screening is scheduled each spring.  Please call to schedule an appointment.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

Stamford Central School is taking names of children for the joint Universal Pre-Kindergarten program for the fall of next year. Children in Stamford and Jefferson School Districts who will be 4 years old by December 1st are eligible. Parents who are interested should call their school district.

Please  keep extra crayons, glue sticks, scissors, tape and pencils at home for

homework and to replenish school items as needed.

DO NOT SEND: markers, pens, notebooks, tape, crayon shapeners, folders or extra paper! 

1st Grade

Pencil Box (cigar box size ) with name
Crayon-regular size, no more than 24
Box of tissues
Backpack
2 Glue Sticks (not paste)
Sneakers for gym
Ziploc Bags (gallon, quart, or sandwich)
Ceral Box (may be flattened)
As you shop for school supplies, please have these supplies on hand at home:

Please DO NOT SEND-markers, pens, notebooks, tape, crayon or pencil sharpeners, folders,  or loose leaf paper. 

2nd Grade

one large box of tissues
sneakers for gym and recess
backpack or book-bag
pencils
small pencil box or case to fit ALL their coloring supplies
plastic coated folder with bottom pockets (two pocket portfolio)
several glue sticks (and more as needed throughout the year)
pair of scissors (5 inches)
snack milk money for a ticket if wanted ($3.00 as of this writing)
small box of crayons (no more than 24 crayons)
box of markers (no more than 12 markers)

Things that your child may not bring to school:

large boxes of crayons-over 24
notebooks or loose leaf paper
toys to have in their desk (these will be taken away!)
pens
permanent markers
money that is not in an envelope (with a name and explanation)
pencil sharpeners
electronic devices (Game Boy, iPod, hand-held toys, CD players, etc.
 
Thanks for your help with these supplies.  The children do not have room for much in their cubbies or desks.  We supply all writing paper.  The folder will be a  homework folder and it is difficult to put work in if the pockets aren't on the bottom. 

3rd Grade

Please send in the following supplies labeled with your child's name:

5 pocket folders
1 package of wide ruled loose leaf paper
1 marble composition notebook
1 package of pencils
1 package of pens
2 glue sticks
1 package of crayons (24 or less)
1 package of washable markers (12 or less)
Extra erasers
1 pair of student scissors
1 plastic crayon box
1 package of dry erase markers for student use (if possible)
1 large box or 2 small boxes of tissues

4th Grade

1 spiral notebook (1 subject)

1 composition book (wide ruled)
4 pocket folders with 3 prongs (green, blue, yellow, red)
1 pocket folder without prongs (any color)
1 package of white 3-holed paper (wide ruled)

1 one inch wide 3 ring binder (not larger)

5th Grade

4-3 hole punched pocket folders- one for each binder
2-packages of loose leaf paper...wide ruled

Optional:  USB storage device (jump drive)

6th Grade
